The newly renamed NCBA T20 CRICKET TOURNAMENT 2020 kicked off on Sunday 26th Jan 2020 With 4 matches to be played every Sunday on the two allocated grounds Mombasa Sports Club and Coast Gymkhana.

Even though the day started with looming signs of rain and heavy rainfall warnings ….It was a dream start for the event with nail-biting suspense , big towering sixes , amazing catches and a major upset.

GAME 1 COAST GYHKHANA vs JAFFERY SPORTS CLUB , played on CG

CG winning the toss elected to field and did well to restrict JSC to 128/9. Mujtaba Walji the captain top scored with 30. An early scare for CG while chasing the target where they found themselves at 29/5 , requiring the cool head of Nimesh Panchal top scoring with 58 to earn the victory by 4 wicket. GAME 2 MOMBASA SPORTS CLUB A vs MOMBASA SPORTS CLUB B ….. played at MSC

The debutants MSC B felt the might of their senior team when they squared off on Sunday morning. Having won the toss and elected to field they put on a good show by bowling and fielding well ….however , they were no match for the tournament top scorer Sagar Karia who scored a remarkable 92runs which included 8 towering sixes. MSC amassed 147/5 in their 20 overs. MSC B struggled against the experience bowling attack of MSC A finally succumbing to 44 all out. MSC winning by 103 runs Man of the Match Sagar Karia

GAME 3 MEMON SPORTS CLUB vs SHREE CUTCHI LEVA

Shree Cutchi leva were merciless as they started the defense of their title as champions. Memon winning the toss and elected to bat. Tight bowling by the cutchi attack only allowed Memon to score 80runs with Abdul Harunani top scoring with 23runs. In the Cutchi bowlers…. Mukesh Hirani stood out with figures of 4 overs 10 runs 3 wickets. What followed after was an awesome display of power hitting by Kenya national player Dhiren Gondaria who score 58runs from 17balls and winning the game for his team. Cutchi winning by 9 wickets. GAME 4 JAFFERY SPORTS CLUB vs MOMBASA SPORTS CLUB B

The Highlight of the day came in the last match between Jaffery who fielded 4 professional players against the MSC B ,the youngest team in the tournament. JSC winning the toss , elected to bat first….but what followed surprised everyone….. tight bowling spells and excellent fielding including the catch of the day by Watsal Shah. JSC were all dismissed in the 16th over having only scored 86 runs. Milind Kamdar doing most of the damage with 4over 19runs 4 wickets. MSC B experience a few bumps chasing the target by losing 4 wickets but eventually crossed the line in the 15over. MSC B winning by 6 wickets. Man of the Match Milind Kamdar
