Coast Gymkhana trounced Shree Cutchi Leva Patel last weekend to set the stage for a clear shot at the top of the table in the coming weekend of fixtures of the NIC T20 tournament which see Gymkhana take on Mombasa Jaffery and Mombasa Simba respectively.
Gymkhana batting first amassed 180 runs with Rakep Patel going great guns with 131 as Gymkhana lost cheap wickets on the other end. However, Paresh Gami's 2/28 was the only saving grace for the well known Cutchi bowling attack. In reply, Rajesh Narsi (20), Paresh Bhudia (27), Pritesh Hirani (25) and Kushal Varshani (20) could not total up the score and SCLPS ended with only 118/8 at 20 overs. Kshitij Patel 3/26 and Shreyash Desale 2/16 displaying some brilliant stump to stump bowling.
Another tough contender for the NIC T20 cup, Burhani Sports Club had a field day against Mombasa Simba restricting the lions to 73 all out with 10 deliveries spare. Satinder Aithan (21) and Amir Hamza (15) contended well against the ferocious Mohammed Dadabhai (4/16) and Hussein Mukarram (3/12). Burhani managed the target in half their innings with none of the Simba bowlers troubling the batsmen. Idris Yusufali (32) and Mustafa Chandbhai (20)* strolling along to make the runs with ease. Burhani at present lead the table having played two matches too many compared to the rest of the contending field
In the third NIC T20 match last weekend, Mombasa Simba trounced newcomers Memon Sports Club to secure their first win in the tournament. Batting first under the watchful eyes of Kutub GulamAbbas and Hemant Desai, Simba posted 148/6 with Amir Hamza (39) and Satinder Aithan (26) getting the runs. Both fell to good bowling from Ahmed Kadernani (2/28) as AbdulRahim Harunani (3/24) also managed to showcase his skills. In reply, Luqman Noorani (45)* and Essak Kasmani (32) could not score fast enough against the bowling of Amir Hamza (3/21) and the Memon side managed only 121/6 in their allotted 20 overs. However, it would seem that as the tournament progresses, Memon Sports Club is getting into the game and shows promise in future matches. Plenty of action this weekend as Gymkhana try to conquer the NIC T20 table whilst Burhani and Heats try to gun for the top of the PRO40 with SCLPS and Mombasa Jaffery also playing crucial matches for the top slots.
