Shree Swaminarayan Academy won the inaugural Coast U17 Tournament

Hot favorites Shree Swaminarayan Academy won the inaugural Coast U 17's title by beating Oshwal Academy by 4 wickets in the finals played on a sunny afternoon on 6th Feb 2016 at Coast Gymkhana Ground.

Oshwal Academy won the toss and elected to bat first .Once again Puru Sharma going out for a Golden Duck caught plumb in front of the wicket by golden boy Dev Hirani. Viral Shah and Shukan Mehta put up a good partnership of 40 before Viral was caught and bowled by Harsh Dinesh for a well compiled 22. Shukan Mehta followed suit as he also fell for 22 and all of a sudden Oshwal were 44 for 3 wickets down. After the fall of Shukan the Oshwal Procession started with only Hussein Khanbhai (11) showing any resistance in the middle order. In the end what OA were all out for 79 in 20 overs.

In reply Shree Swaminarayan Academy started very shakily with 3 run outs and only 11 on the board. Shree Captain Dev Hirani took charge and played some aggressive strokes to score an attractive 44 and bring Shree Swaminarayan Academy close to victory before being out LBW to Akshay Maru. A late fight back by OAM picking up another 3 wickets including that of Dev brought a bit of excitement to the finals but the writing was on the wall and Shree Swaminarayan Academy romped home by 4 Wickets winning the inaugural Coast Cricket Association Under 17's trophy. In the 3 position playoff game Jaffery Academy best Agakahan Academy by 44 runs at Mombasa Sports Club. Jaffery Academy once a powerhouse in Schools cricket were a pale shadow of themselves in this tournament. Jaffery Academy captain Suraj Patel called the coin correctly and elected to bat first and posted 115 for the loss of 5 wickets, with the reappearance of Jay Doshi scoring 55 runs. In reply Agakhan could only manage 71 runs for the loss of 8 wickets with Suraj Patel bowling a devastating spell of 5/12. ( Scorecard)

A match winning 44 runs in final by Shree Swaminarayan Academy Captain Dev Hirani earn himself a best batsman of the tournament trophy while Jaffery Academy Captain Suraj Patel was awarded with a Best bowler of the tournament for his superb performance in 3rd place game against Aga Khan Academy.
