Heat melt down to gymkhana spinner in 40 over league as MSC continue winning streak in NIC T20.....

With Ex-Kenya Cap Jimmy Kamande alongside, Mombasa Heats conceded 247 runs to Coast Gymkhana last Sunday as Rakep Patel (45), Harshil Gohil (42) and Sanjay Patel (41) scored runs at a steady pace. Jimmy’s (1/38), Bruce Phillips’s (3/36) and Anthony D’scouza’s (3/37) did not hamper the scoring rate. In reply, Jimmy Kamande struck a fiery (64) to no avail as the rest of the batting line up crumbled against Luv Manek’s (5/20) with heats closing their innings all out for 109 within 27 overs. This takes Gymkhana to the top of the table although having played more games than Mombasa Jaffery and Mombasa Sports Club sitting at 3rd and 2nd positions respectively.

Mombasa Sports Club cemented their position at the very top as their middle order batsmen steadied the team from 13/3 to end with 98/7 in their 20 overs. Some superb fielding and bowling by Shree Cutchi Leva saw the coast giants stumble and fall as Mohamed Al-Hirazi (35) and ZahirAbbas Khaku (21) fought hard to steady the innings. Kushal Varshani with (3/25) doing the bulk of the damage. In reply, Bipin Bhudia (20) and Kartik Pindoria (17) gave Shree Cutchi Leva a good start before Vishal Shikotra (4/12) ripped apart the batting and Shree Cutchi lost all their wickets for 80 runs with 1 delivery to spare.

In the second match of the weekend, Mombasa Jaffery fielded former Kenyan Captain Steve Tikolo against Mombasa Simba. Simba batting first were no match for the veteran cricketer as he quickly took 3/18 with GulamAbbas Kassam picking 2/19 and Simba were bowled out for 71 with 2 overs to spare. In reply, Steve Tikolo could only watch from the boundary as Abbasali Mawji (27)* and Mohamed Fazal (31)* managed the score within 14 overs. Jaffery taking a 10 wicket victory against the Simba bowling.

With the table set to open and upsets bound to happen in the coming games, the tournament takes a new turn this coming weekend at Mombasa Sports Club as Memon Sports Club take on Mombasa Jaffery, Burhani Sports Club try to upset Mombasa Sports Club and Shree Cutchi Leva try to secure a win against Mombasa Simba. All action taking place at the Sports Club Grounds.
