Harajsingh Sohal spins burhani out as double ton takes sports past 300....

Harajsingh Sohal’s 3/6 and Luv Manek’s 3/20 knocked Burhani S.C down the table as they crumbled for 111 in 35 overs. Murtaza Bakirali (23) and Ammar Taibali (19) the only batsmen showing resilience against some beautiful slow bowling that was Burhani’s undoing. In reply, Mustansir Akberali struck early with 2 wickets giving only 23 but Luv Manek 29* and Jalpesh Vekaria 39* took the Coast Gymkhana side to a comfortable 8 wicket win and a second place on the points table. However, Gymkhana have played one game more than top spot contenders Mombasa Jaffery, Burhani SC and Shree Cutchi Leva Patel.

In Nyali at the Simba Union grounds it was runs galore as Vishal Shikotra knocked a beautiful 71 runs in record time but this was overshadowed by Jay Trevedi’s 101 and not to be outdone, out came Sagar Karia to knock 113 in quick time to take Sports Club to 366 in 40 overs Pyara Singh’s 3/38 the only redeeming act from the Simba bowlers. In reply, Satpal Singh Gatora (75*) stood tall and firm from the first delivery and was still standing at the crease at the end as Vishal Shikotra (3/21) and Neal Karia (3/11) destroyed the Simba line-up at the other end of the wicket. Simba managing 160 in 37.2 overs. Both Simba sides sit at the bottom of the table as Mombasa Sports Club continue defending their title at the top of the table.

Mombasa Heats took on Simba A at the Coast Gymkhana ground in a match that could have seen them to the fourth position on the points table. However, lack of patience at the crease has lost many a top game and this was no exception. Batting first, Simba A posted 193 in 31 overs with 56 extras courtesy of Heats and Devender Singh (33) as well as Randeep Birdi (26) standing against the haphazard Heats bowling. Andrew Englefield (3/36) and Bruce Philips (2/20) keeping things tidy for the side. In reply, a spirited fight in the middle of the innings by Padma Dayaratne (43) nearly took heats through to a win but Gurjeet Singh (4/29) and Randeep Birdi (4/34) snatched victory from right under the Heats noses to close their innings 6 runs short of victory with nearly 15 overs to spare.

Its been an exciting run so far with thrills, spills, hits and misses. Nothing beats the live action as it happens. Come join us next weekend at the Coast Gymkhana, Burhani, Sports Club grounds for more action as it happens.
