Mombasa Sports Club once again emerged triumphant at the just concluded CCA six aside tournament played over the weekends. For the fourth year running MSC has managed to clinch the CCA’s curtain raiser for the season and this year was no exception. It was a well attended tournament, with a total of sixteen teams registering. Mombasa Sports Club and Mombasa Simba raised three teams each, while Coast Gymkhana, Burhani Sports Club raised two team each and Memon, Mombasa Heat, Jaffery and Cutchi Leva fielded one team each.
A spirited performance by Mombasa Sports Club Development team gave a tough time to Gymkhana B team while MSC A, Mombasa Simba A, Coast Gymkhana A, Jaffery Mombasa and Cutchi Youth demolish Mombasa Simba C, MSC B, Burhani B, Mombasa Heat and Memon Sports Club respectively to book their spot in Quarter Final.
However, the day belonged to MSC A , captained by the experienced Zahirabbas Khaku, whose team scored 63 runs in 5 overs with 3 batsmen: Yusuf Bakir, Taha Sulemanji and Zahirabbas Khaku scoring 15 runs each. In reply, only 2 batsmen from Burhani A manage to score 15 runs each while rest of the players kneel down against the discipline bowling attack of MSC A. At the end of 5 over Burhani A only manage to score 40 runs. Apart from winning the overall event, MSC A also bagged the the highest scorer YUSUF BAKIR , Man of The Tournament TAAHA SULEMANJII and Emerging Player of the Tournament JAY DOSHI while PARESH BHUDIA of Cutchi Leva won the Highest Wicket Trophy
During the trophy presentation, Chairman of CCA Mr. Sanjay Patel and his team thanked all participants, Spectators, Coast Gymkhana Management for Ground usages at no cost, Umpires for their free services, Well wishers and Donors. He also congratulated the winners of the event. He also mentioned that this year the focus of the cricket governing bodies will be towards development of youth programs as he looks towards the clubs and their senior player for their support. Next in the cricketing calendar is the 30 over Knockout Tournament where a total of 10 teams are taking part, starting on 31st August 2014 on various grounds
